Molyon is developing lithium-sulphur batteries that will deliver a step-change in battery energy density, enabling electrification in weight-critical applications.
Based on 15 years of materials science research in the Chhowalla Group at the University of Cambridge, Molyon's breakthrough cathode technology allows sulphur to remain stable and provide high energy density over hundreds of cycles - revolutionising the lithium-sulphur battery field.
With demonstrated pouch cell energy density of 500 Wh/kg - over 2x typical Li+ - Molyon will unlock battery markets in drones, robotics, EVs, and storage. Further, Molyon's batteries use readily available and environmentally friendly materials, breaking the Li+ dependence on rare earth metals including nickel, manganese, and cobalt.
Molyon was founded by Dr Ismail Sami (CEO), Enterprise Fellow at the Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Hub and Entrepreneurial Fellow at The Faraday Institution; Dr Zhuangnan Li (CTO); Scientific Advisor Prof. Manish Chhowalla; and Commercial Advisor Dr Sai Shivareddy.
