Zest Dental Solutions is a global leader in the manufacturing and distribution of dental solutions for the treatment of edentulous patients. The company was founded in 1972 by Max Zuest at his dental laboratory in San Diego, California. Here the original ZEST® Anchor Attachment originated from a desire to help clinicians combat the damage caused by patients improperly seating their overdentures. Max’s vision continued with his son Paul Zuest continuing to place patient satisfaction above all else with ZEST’s introduction of the ZAAG Attachment in 1994 and eventually the third generation LOCATOR Attachment System in 2001. Since that time, LOCATOR® has achieved worldwide acceptance as the premier tissue-supported, implant-retained overdenture attachment in the dental industry. More than 90 manufacturers have partnered with ZEST to customize its patented LOCATOR Attachment System to be compatible with their respective implant platforms. In fact, LOCATOR represents a rare occurrence in implant dentistry. Never before has the implant industry, clinicians and patients come together to universally recognize the merits of a restorative solution making LOCATOR the most globally recognized and trusted brand for overdenture restorations.

Today, Zest Dental Solutions is a portfolio company of Avista Capital Partners, a leading private equity firm. Day-to-day operations are led by Steve Schiess as President and CEO. Steve and his executive management team are comprised of seasoned implant dentistry professionals with combined experience of nearly 50 years. This experience is manifest with continued innovation and the introduction of products and services that continue to provide clinicians with world-class overdenture solutions for their patients. This spirit of innovation led to the evolution of the original LOCATOR System with the launch in early 2016 of the next generation LOCATOR R-Tx Removable Attachment System. ZEST’s product portfolio also includes exceptionally designed LOCATOR and SATURNO overdenture implant systems and the CHAIRSIDE Product Portfolio – a line of dental tools and materials that provide an end-to-end solution for implant-retained overdenture modification and processing.

Also in early 2016, ZEST acquired Danville Materials which produces a high quality line of dental consumables, market leading micro-etching and air abrasion products and unique offerings such as Perioscopy. This acquisition enables ZEST, the undisputed market leader in implant-retained, tissue supported overdenture attachments to expand its broad range of treatment solutions to patients caring for their natural teeth.

Zest Dental Solutions is located in Carlsbad, California and has global distribution through OEM implant companies, distributor networks, and a domestic retail sales operation.
