Guidelines when using our Facebook page

We ask that you please adhere to the following guidelines when using our Facebook page:

1. Netiquette

Posting and commenting on our Facebook page should follow these general communications rules:

• Treating all other users as you would like to be treated by them
• Respecting the opinions of others and not trying to force your opinion on anyone else. Everyone has the right to express their own opinion
• Respecting the rights of others

2. Deletion of posts/comments and blocking Facebook accounts

The following actions are examples that are seen as violations of the terms of use. These actions will result in the immediate deletion of posts/comments or, in the case of gross or repeated violations, we will block the user so that he or she is not able to post further content or comments on our page:

• Personal insults or degrading comments of any kind
• Defamatory, anti-constitutional, racist, or pornographic statements or illustrations
• Disparaging comments about institutions, organizations or companies, sexist or racist comments, or hate propaganda
• Any violation of the rights of third parties, in particular copyrights
• Comments that do not relate to the messages under discussion or that are off-topic
• Attacking others or calling for violence of any kind
• Calls to join in demonstrations or rallies of any political orientation
• Offering goods or services, of either a commercial or private nature, or using this Facebook page as an advertising space
• Spam, i.e., any form of automatically generated content or repeatedly posting the same comment

3. Privacy policy

We created this Facebook page in order to connect and facilitate with interested people an exchange about science, biotechnology, healthcare, molecular diagnostics, and other QIAGEN-related topics. The Privacy Policy covers how we handle personal data, which is submitted to Facebook by clicking the “Like” button on our Facebook page. This data is also accessible to QIAGEN. The data we receive from Facebook contains:

• Age demographics
• Place of residence (country and city)
• Gender
• Language
• Activity statistics/rate of all people using our page

Facebook provides this data exclusively in a summarized form. QIAGEN does not receive data on individuals or small user groups. We don’t share the data with third parties. User data is used exclusively to administer our Facebook page and to learn more about which topics are of interest to our followers so that we can further improve our page’s offering.
