Food, Energy, and Water are people's primary needs, that’s always decreasing. By 2050 world Population will reach 9.1 billion and 70% of the world population will be living in urban space. In Bangladesh, there is an urban population of 30%, which is likely to increase by up to 50% by 2030.
The question is who will feed this growing population? That’s why we need new ways to create scalable and efficient agriculture farming.
iFarmer is a digital agriculture platform that focuses on linking farm sponsors with real farmers in order to support agriculture and farming in Bangladesh while promoting inclusive growth in the agricultural ecosystem through technology and financial inclusion. iFarmer is working for developing a system of crowd farming in Bangladesh where the general people and the farmers both get benefited.
Agricultural financing is still a ‘rocket science’ in Bangladesh since most farmers do not have the inputs to reach the full harvest potential of their resources because it is very hard for small farmers to access loans from banks and other formal institutions. Also, because farming is cyclical in nature, many times the timeline for agricultural loan applications to financial institutions do not match urgent farming needs, hence crowdsourcing the capital could be one of the viable options for farmers. Individuals/institutions (farm sponsors) can easily sponsor small to medium farms, making funds easily accessible to the farmers. This is exactly what iFarmer, a Bangladeshi crowdsourcing impact Agri-tech start-up is doing.
Vision, Mission, Objectives
Vision:
“To be the foremost digital agriculture platform in South - Asia, admired for its impact on collaborative food production and boosting food security across the country”. The company sets its objectives and goals keeping their vision in mind and makes sure their activities portray their vision in the mind of their stakeholders.
Mission:
“To enable everyone to participate in the achievement of global food security”. iFarmer’s mission is to be a sustainable supply chain in the food industry for the growing population. The demand for high-quality organic agricultural food, especially from the middle-income group, gets higher day after day. iFarmer wants to be at the edge, solving this immense upcoming crisis by creating a unique sponsorship journey opening for all.
Objective:
iFarmer is an impact tech startup that has developed an innovative online platform which enables anyone
in Bangladesh to easily sponsor and ear through agriculture and farming.
