Our story
FriendlyTransfer was developed by a group of international students at Harvard University that, in order to avoid the significant bank fees and transaction costs involved in international money transfers, followed a simple strategy to pay for school and other expenses.
Whenever we needed to bring Dollars from our country to the US, we would find a trusted friend/colleague in the US who needs to send Dollars in the opposite direction, and simply agree on delivering each other’s Dollars locally.
For example. Let’s say that Paul in Panama needs to pay $1,000 to his cousin in the US, and that Sarah in the US needs to pay $1,000 to her grandpa in Panama. If Paul and Sarah know and trust each other, they both can simply agree to pay Paul’s cousin and Sara’s grandpa locally. Since no money moves between Panama and the US, Paul and Sara save on international bank fees and other transaction costs.
Through our online platform, we are bringing this possibility to students, travelers, immigrants, small business owners, etc., who can now connect with friends around the world and save money by engaging in friendly transfers.
We invite you to join our community and be a part of a radical change in the way people move money around the world.
