EnOcean GmbH is the developer of the patented energy harvesting wireless technology. Headquartered in Oberhaching, near Munich, the company produces and markets self-powered wireless sensor solutions for maintenance-free applications in the Internet of Things, which are used for building and industrial automation, smart homes and LED lighting control. The EnOcean products are based on miniaturized energy converters, ultra-low power electronics and robust radio technology in open standards. Over 350 leading product manufacturers worldwide have been relying on EnOcean wireless modules for their system solutions for 20 years and have installed EnOcean-enabled products in one million buildings around the world.
The EnOcean modules use the energy harvesting principle, in which energy is obtained from the surroundings, to supply self-powered wireless sensor networks. The modules are based on miniaturized energy converters that convert motion, light or temperature differences into electrical energy. Together with an efficient energy management system, the energy harvesting technology facilitates communication between maintenance-free IoT devices based on open wireless standards, such as EnOcean, Bluetooth® and ZigBee. The solutions are used in building automation, smart homes, LED light control systems as well as industrial applications.
