Our team works on the challenging journey of domesticating a weed since mid 2013. In the past this type of challenge required decades, but some cutting edge plant breeding and plant molecular biology tools were not available at that time. One thing was common: the final observations and decisions on plant / crop performance still has to be made under the regular field growing conditions. For a crop like ours, this means planting in the fall, when the vast majority of crop coverage in the heart of the Midwest is gone, waiting for winter to pass, and rapidly growing, flowering and producing seeds in early spring. We just planted its 5th field trial season. And while conducting evaluations and waiting for field results, we worked countless hours under lab and greenhouse conditions to achieve a grain composition that matches canola oil and meal. Since 2013 we have been developing this product, but now we have all the parts placed together and are celebrating the arrival of CoverCress, and the broader route our company is taking towards the path of commercialization aside from research pipeline development. This is who we are: CoverCress Inc. I invite you to follow us on our covercrop journey.
