In June 1995, the Belgian doctor Bernard Blanpain created "Medicare" in order to make up for the lack of quality care in Lubumbashi. In September 1997, the Centre took its current name of Centre Médical de la Communauté. In 1998 the Centre started collaborating with the Forrest Group, which acquired it three years later. CMC is recognized as the reference clinic in terms of quality in Lubumbashi. The Centre's objective is not to generate a return for shareholders but to be financially self-sufficient. CMC currently employs about ten doctors in the main specialties. The offer is mainly aimed at the salaried staff of companies in the region. There is no competing offer at equivalent price and quality. The current patient population (employer agreements and private services) comprises 7,550 families, including 28,600 children. The CMC has developed a hybrid offer: This investment project consists mainly of building a maternity ward and additional hospital rooms. The project is expected to increase access to health care on two levels : Job creation; medical training CMC provides a health solution that meets the needs of companies and employees Sharing of good practices (quality, transparency, predictability) Improved access to health care in terms of volume and quality. In the contract, BIO will require the company to put in place procedures relating to safety and well-being at work as well as procedures relating to waste management.
