Bergkvist Siljan is a leading Swedish sawmilling group supplying 840,000 m3 of sawn wood products to customers mainly in East Asia, Western Europe, and North Africa. Siljan Group, with two sawmills, and Bergkvist-Insjön, with one sawmill, are 100+ year old former family-owned businesses located in the Dalecarlia region in central Sweden. At year-end 2020, the Group is fully merged and has realized synergies fully in line with the original plan by specializing each mill towards different raw material and products. It has also realized personnel and non-personnel synergies between the three sites, improved operational performance in all steps of the value chain and leveraged each other’s market strongholds. Bergkvist Siljan has a combined turnover of c. SEK 2.7bn (c. EUR 265m), employs 285 people and the production cost per m3 is now one of the lowest amongst peers in the Nordic countries. The Group also operates one of the biggest container terminals in Sweden (40,000 TEU p.a.). The Group was formed in the merger between Siljan Group AB (acquired by ESSVP IV in 2018) and Bergkvist-Insjön AB (acquired in 2019) on the back of strong synergy potential between the two companies.
